6:12-16: Choosing of the 12
Ø What procedure did Jesus use to pick the 12 Apostles?
Ø Why did He choose the men whom He chose?
Ø How does this apply to us?
6:17-26: Sermon on the Plain (this is a different setting then the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew)
Ø What did Jesus do before He spoke?
Ø To whom did He address His remarks?
Ø Note the comparisons He drew between verses 20-22 and 24-26, He clearly describes two opposing world views, what are they?
6:27-36: The Golden Rule
Ø Is the behavior Jesus advocates in these verses “normal” human behavior?
Ø Do other religious beliefs advocate this type of behavior?
Ø Is it humanly possible to live this way?
6:37-42: Look in the mirror
Ø When Jesus says, “do not judge”, to what is He referring?
Ø Is it ever right to judge others according to our own personal standards?
Ø On whose standard will all of mankind be judged?
6:43-45: Fruit inspectors
Ø Believers should be judgers of fruit.

7:11-17: Raised from the dead but not resurrected
Ø Was the widow’s son raised from the dead or resurrected? What is the difference?

Ø What is the purpose of signs and wonders (miracles)?
7:18-35: John the Baptizer

7:36-50: Responding to Deity
Ø How did the Pharisee respond to Jesus and the situation?
Ø What was the sinful woman’s response?

8:1-15: Responding to the Word of God
Ø What are the different responses to God’s Word?
Ø Do these responses have anything to do with salvation?
Ø Honestly evaluate what has happened to the Seed of the Word in your life.
8:16-18: Allowing the Word to cleanse
Ø To what does the lamp refer and what is its purpose?
Ø Where does the lamp reside?
Ø What is the proper response to the lamp’s presence?
8:19-21: The family of God
Ø Did Jesus have any biological siblings?
Ø Are biological family members automatically part of God’s family?
Ø How does one become part of the family of God?
8:22-25: “Be muzzled”
Ø Who requested the boat trip to the other side of the lake?
Ø When Jesus takes us on a journey does it mean clear sailing?
Ø How often have we demonstrated a lack of faith when the storms of life hit?
8:26-39: Greater is He who is in us then he who is in the world
Ø From where does spiritual warfare come?
Ø Is there spiritual warfare today?
Ø Who is still the solution to spiritual warfare?
