LUKE 22:63 – 24:53
22:63-23:25: Prelude to Crucifixion
Ø This begins the most disgraceful period of time in the history of the world! The Son of God is defiled, mocked, beaten, and crucified. Why?

Ø Had Jesus done anything that justified crucifixion?

Ø What did Jesus say to those who crucified Him?
Ø What did He say to the criminal who believed?
Ø What did He saw to the soldiers who mocked Him?
Ø What did He say to the crowd who challenged Him?
Ø Why did He respond to some and ignore the others? Application for today? Is God obligated to speak to those who reject Him?

Ø What time of the day is the "sixth hour"?
Ø Notice the events that took place during that three hour period:
ü The sun stopped shinning. What is the significance of that?

ü Jesus cried out to His Father and breathed His last. Significance?
ü The centurion praised God. What is the significance of that?

Ø Notice that the women not only stayed with Jesus to the very end of His earthly life (see vs.23:49) but they were the ones who went to the tomb to minister to His body. Where were the disciples?
Ø After the angels spoke to the women what happened to their memory?
Ø Did the disciples believe the report of the women? Why not?

Ø When they "saw" the resurrected Lord, what was their immediate response? Application?
24:36-53: Jesus' Appearance to the Disciples
Ø When Jesus appeared to the disciples and the others in
Ø Did touching His wounds convince them? What finally convinced them?
Ø Has anything changed or does one still understanding from the Lord to grasp the truth of the Scriptures?
Ø Why did He tell them to stay in the city?
Ø Try to imagine the scene as Jesus was taken up into heaven before His disciples. Now try to imagine what it is going to be like when we are taken up into heaven to meet Him face to face.
